Live: Portugal. The Man - "AKA M80 The Wolf" (Outside Lands 09)
Beyond epic. These guys transcend total awesomeness.
Live: MGMT - "Weekend Wars"
I have a newfound love for MGMT, as of late. It took me a while to open up to them. Mainly because after that movie 21 (?) everyone finally caught on and I didn't see 'why' they garnered so much. But I gave them time and now am a full-fledged MGMT fan. These guys are ridiculous.
Video: The Decemberists – 'The Hazards of Love' [trailer]
On December 1st The Decemberists will release a visual accompaniment to the entirety of their Hazards Of Love record. Should be sweet. But I still wish these guys would make a different record!! They have so much potential.
Cold War Kids - "Audience of One"
Cold War Kids will probably redeem themselves (for me at least) with this next EP, Behave Yourself. Nathan Willet's croon thrills my soul. It's insane.

Mixtape: Lupe Fiasco – 'Enemy of the State: A Love Story
A new Lupe Fiasco mixtape. Nuff sed. comments.
Jihae
Besides being undeniably gorgeous, Jihae (jee-heh) makes strange bizarro trip hop. It's absolutely enthralling. Her voice is so distinctive. You really need to invest some time into this woman's music.

Beta Chicks
The only 'electronic rock' band I ever really got into and thoroughly enjoyed was Muse. But now, I'm definitely willing to make room for Beta Chicks. Don't let the name fool you. Beta Chicks - typeset beta.chicks - is not a group of ladies. Nor is it deceptively ironic as The Barenaked Ladies. Their name, though admittedly thought up with their tongues planted firmly in the sides of their cheeks, comes from a play on the term "Alpha Male," as songwriter and vocalist, Jon Jacobs admits. I think because electronic rock rarely sounds good or very few bands can pull it off, I am not so fond of the genre. There are a few 'mainstream' bands that definitely incorporate both genres, but on an indie-scale, I think this is different. Both electronic and rock are such loaded words these days. Let's just called Beta Chicks experimental pop. Their debut album Input Launch Code, out now on Spike, Inject, Repeat Studios, is a collection of emotionally diverse and melodically diverse songs. It gets tedious listening to album after album and all the songs 'sound the same'. This record deviates from that expectation. Beta Chicks have crafted 12 awesome pop songs that channel bands like Interpol, Muse, and Nine Inch Nails, altogether. It's a crazy record.
Hold Your Horse Is
A fairly new band from the UK that sounds like something straight out of America's 90s hardcore scene. Hold Your Horse Is harness that raw power and presence that is characteristic of bands such as Black Flag and At the Drive-In. Their energy is so alive throughout all their songs. Based on their recent EP, Everyone Runs Faster With A Knife and double a-side single Lost The Magic/Broken Sound, I can tell these guys know what they are doing. Explosive energy at its best. As for their band name, clever. It does make sense, and for those who do not get it, try saying it out loud. These guys don't need to hold anything. They are ready to fuck shit up. What I found very evident in their songs is the bass. I know when songs go through mastering, the bass usually gets drowned by everything else. I'm glad that it plays a bigger role here. Keep an eye on these fellas. Download "Christopher Walken" - HERE
